Stewart Rahman, Cleveland Police
"We did 2 days classroom-based training going through all the theory, being educated and brought up to speed with all the rules and regulations. After that we spent a full day practising our flying, getting out with the drones and getting used to handling them and doing the physical checks. On the last day, we did our assessment, the guys were really supportive and it was a really good experience being on that training course."
Dr. Laurent Duvergé, Kestrel Wildlife Consultants
“I have trained with COPTRZ for a number of years, at several of their training venues and online, and am now going through the A2CofC and GVC licensing process with them. I’ve always encountered very knowledgeable staff and course instructors, and the course material has always been up to date. The whole process has been made easy by having a very efficient booking system, and I look forward to dealing with them in the future, as I expand my business.”

YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED
As a commercial pilot or hobbyist, you will need a GVC in order to operate within the specific category. This will allow you to fly potentially larger drones in a more medium-risk environment.
It's easy! You can get in touch with a member of our admissions team by clicking here, or you scroll back to the top of the page to book your spot now.

This is entirely up to you! Online learning is ideal for people with commitments during the day, such as work, as you have the flexibility to learn whenever it suits your schedule. Our online GVC is not time-bound so you can learn at your own pace, however, not everyone benefits from the online learning style. Our face-to-face GVC course takes just three days to complete and it's a great asset for students who need more one on one guidance or more direct instruction.

They are two completely different things. A GVC is the competency requirements and certificate required to apply for an Operational Authorisation. A GVC is much like the NQE certificates candidates received from completing a course to be able to apply for a PfCO.
Yes, public liability insurance will be required to take your flight test as part of the GVC course and for flights once you complete your course when not flown for recreational purposes. There is also an application fee for the Operational Authorisation payable to the CAA.
There are a number of ways that you can do this. You can access your flight logs directly through your drones software. A more convenient way is to use third-party software such as UAV Air Data, this website will allow you to enter your DJI or Parrots credentials and extract the data automatically which can then be inputted into your own format if required.
OSC is an acronym for Operational Safety Case which is a document that is provided to the civil aviation authority when the pilot feels that he must operate outside of the limits provided by the CAA. The CAA will scrutinize this document prior to issuing a secondary permission which will only be issued if the CAA are satisfied that all relevant safety precautions are covered within the OSC. These one-off permissions can sometimes take up to 6-months to be processed so the key is always preparation.
The CAA have a series of factsheets to help explain the rules that will apply to your flying:
- Flying for fun CAP2003
- Flying as a hobby and at a club CAP2004
- Using a drone for work CAP2005
- Flying in the countryside CAP2006
- Flying in towns and cities CAP2007
- The difference with the new 2020 regulations CAP2008
